Sin City is widely known as the entertainment capital of the world. Las Vegas is iconic in it’s own right, and there’s no surprise there. People are often attracted to its colorful nightlife, world-class establishments, spectacular sights, and lively entertainment. But there might be something else drawing people to the city — quite literally.
It’s called an energy vortex, and there’s supposedly one right in Las Vegas. If you feel something beckoning you, it might be DragonRidge…
But let’s back up for a moment.
What is an Energy Vortex?
Learning Strategies defines an energy vortex as a whirling area of energy strongly focused at a certain point. It’s established on imaginary, energetic lines called "ley lines" intersecting the earth at specific points. Other than that, it's often considered conducive to healing, meditation, and self-exploration. Depending on the vortex type — positive or negative — it can radiate in a spiraling cone, either clockwise or counterclockwise.
Positive energy vortex spirals upward, creating a flow of energy that enhances delta brain wave activity. As the name implies, it’s believed to draw in more people and even dogs, and it’s also thought to enhance creativity, spiritual awakening, enlightenment, and self-realization. Positive energy vortices are also able to attract good health and abundance.
On the opposite end of the spectrum is a negative energy vortex. It spirals downward in a counterclockwise motion and creates a draining or depleting energy. This type of energy can, unfortunately, cause a lot of stress, chaos, health issues, and personal problems.
Without even realizing, whether you're a believer or not, vortices might be very powerful and impactful in your life. Certain places around the globe — such as Sedona, Arizona; Glastonbury, England; Machu Picchu, Peru; the Great Pyramids of Giza, Egypt; and the Himalayas of Asia, among many others — are known to have strong energy vortices. Places known to have high energy vortices often report that visitors experience positive effects on their overall wellbeing.
Patti Nicholson from Spiritual Encounters, a nonprofit Las Vegas alternative spirituality organization, describes a vortex as "a high energy place — a place where energies are higher or intense — where we can magnify whatever energy we have." Supposedly, the energy vortex is very strong in Las Vegas, drawing a lot of people around the world to the city of sin. “People say (the vortex) is very intense here,” Nicholson tells the Las Vegas Sun. “People from around the world say they were drawn to Las Vegas for some reason, that there is this energy here.”
The Energy Vortex of Las Vegas
Where exactly is this vortex in Las Vegas, and how did we find it?
Doc Phineas (real name: Dr. Ken Kastle), a regular expert on the hit show Pawn Stars and a firm believer in the energy vortex, discovered the "DragonRidge Vortex" in the MacDonald Highlands community of Henderson, one of the most exclusive and luxurious communities in all of Nevada.
At the time, Phineas was on a hike with his good friend Rich MacDonald, founder of MacDonald Highlands and DragonRidge Country Club. Back then, the property was still a bare area before the land was even constructed into the beautiful community that it is now. Upon discovering it, they made a pact to leave this area untouched and respected for the sake of the city. Even now, the area remains untouched even if the land surrounding it has been transformed into the beautiful community you can go visit today.
For those who are curious, the vortex in MacDonald Highlands is pretty easy to locate. Enter through the Valle Verde gate heading to MacDonald Ranch Drive, then take a turn onto Dragon Glen Drive until you reach the roundabout. As you make your way up the hill on the same street, you’ll eventually find the vortex. There’s a lower section of the hill with steps, and you can also find a trail that leads to a stone wall.
Notice anything odd when you’re over there? Maybe you feel more at ease or connected. Perhaps your mind clears, your stress melts, and you’re able to live more in the moment. It might be the vortex! DragonRidge attracts visitors from all over the city. Residents of this exclusive community are lucky enough to experience the vortex in ways they prefer — whether it be taking time to relax and meditate, simply breathing in the view and savoring the experience, or through physical activities like yoga.
So, there’s a lot more happening in Las Vegas outside of the casinos and nightclubs. This city is an excellent place to connect with something more real and authentic. If you’re nearby, make your way over to DragonRidge Vortex and experience something magical.
